Phil Gallo from Variety writes glowing praise for Paula’s performance at the Getty Museum with Corey Harris:
Hawaiian ukulele player and singer Paula Fuga opened the evening, blending reggae and its consciousness-raising lyrics with the island’s sweet and comforting indigenous music. Title track from her album “Lilikoi” and a not-yet-recorded song were highlights in lyric and presentation: She possesses an uncommonly gorgeous voice and holds notes that wrap around a listener like a mother’s embrace. Her backup consisted of appropriately subtle acoustic guitar and some scattered conga playing that never tethered the needed rhythm.

Paula has been written up in the East Bay Express! Check it out here:
CRITIC’S CHOICE
Paula Fuga
It’s impressive enough that Paula Fuga’s debut bundlesromantic R&B lyrics, roots reggae rhythms, and Hawaiian culture into a natural hybrid. “Nose Flute Dub” offers just what it promises, while “The Sun Will Rise” reaches even further with a proudly country guitar part. But best of all are Fuga’s vocals, overcome with passion and soul in a way that can’t be forced. When she sings, And no matter how I try, I can’t resist the thought of you, the pain in her voice pierces through a softly strummed ukulele. At its best, this combination of upfront sincerity and unfettered talent results in pure magic. Fuga makes her first Bay Area appearance on Friday, Jan. 25 at Jupiter (2181 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley), backed by fellow Hawaiian act the Girlas. 8 p.m., free. JupiterBeer.com

The San Francisco Chronicle is giving some attention to Paula and her music here
She’ll be making her first performance in the Bay Area with a free concert at Jupiter in Berkeley on Jan. 25, but it won’t be her first trip here. “I actually recorded part of my album at Hyde Street Studios in 2005. The Grateful Dead recorded there, Tupac, Green Day … it was an amazing studio. There’s a (sound) board in there that (slack-key guitarist) Gabby Pahinui recorded on.”

Paula’s on tour! The dates for her shows are listed above, and we’re trying to keep everything up to date for those of you who got stickers at the shows. Also, if you haven’t gotten the chance, grab the free mp3’s we posted from KTUH’s Monday Night Live.

Paula had a nice write up from the San Diego City Beat:
“Paula Fuga @ Winston’s. This lady’s fantastic. The Hawaiian multi-instrumentalist and singer recently got Jack Johnson’s attention—he collaborated with her on a few songs and brought her along for shows. One of the more soulful, island-vibe musicians around.”

Los Angeles radio station, KPFK will feature a live performance and interview with Paula on Tuesday, May 15th, 11:00 am California time (8:00 am Hawaii time).

Also, The Honolulu Star Bulletin did a write up regarding some of the shows.
Don’t forget to tell your friends about the shows if they’re in Southern California!
